This article contains a complete list of porn websites banned in India. India’s government has blocked access to at most 857 websites considered to be pornographic to “protect social decency.”

The order was sent to the internet service providers (ISPs) in a statement that they are in violation of “morality and decency” of Article 19 (2) of the Constitution and Section 79(3)(b) of the IT Act.

The government ordered Internet providers to block 827 websites hosting pornographic material as per an order of the Uttarakhand High Court. Although the Uttarakhand High Court has indeed asked to stop 857 websites, authorities from the Ministry of Electronics and IT (Meity) have found 30 sites with no pornographic content.

Meity requested the DoT (Department of Telecom) to block 827 websites named in the list issued as part of the order”. All internet service licensees have been instructed to immediately take the necessary steps to block 827 websites in line with the instructions of Meity and to comply with the terms to the Hon’ble High Court or order.” the Department of Telecom announced in a directive sent to ISP (internet service providers).

The high court order was issued on the 27th of September, 2018, and was accepted by Meity on the 8th of October. The order came in the wake of an August 4 decision of the DoT which instructed web service providers to deactivate sites that host pornographic material for children. The initial complaint was brought to the Uttarakhand High Court in May.

Is Watching Porn illegal?
